Ice Cube at Manchester Academy

Ice Cube at Manchester Academy

WinkBall citizen video reporters were at Manchester Academy on Wednesday 13th July 2011 for Ice Cube and Naughty By Nature. The pioneers and originators of West coast & East coast rap came together for the second of two exclusive and unmissable UK performances. Ice Cube (aka O'Shea Jackson) is an actor, screenwriter, film director and producer aside from his rap superstar status and began his career as a member of legendary group, N.W.A. alongside Dr Dre and co. Dropping his 9th studio album, 'I Am The West' in 2010, Ice Cube is still churning out quality material to add to the likes of debut full-length, 'AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted'. Making up the other half of the party were Grammy-award winning Naughty By Nature, the New Jersey rap trio orginially schooled by Queen Latifah. With hits such as 1991's 'O.P.P.' and stellar albums like 'Poverty's Paradise', Naughty By Nature remain relevant and prevalent in rap and hip hop culture. WinkBall reporters were present to speak to fans of both performers at the Manchester concert, gathering passionate views on the importance of each and subsequently, how the show was. Massive support for both Ice Cube and Naughty By Nature, with many fans telling WinkBall just how significant some of their work still is to this day. A rare opportunity to see two legendary acts on our shores, the lucky few - and those not so lucky - will be hoping for a swift return! Were YOU at the Academy tonight? What did you make of Ice Cube and Naughty By Nature? Which of today's current crop of musical talent would you say they have most influenced? Upload your thoughts in a video message and have your say!
