England began day two of the first Investec Test against West Indies needing just one wicket to dismiss the tourists. The West Indies put in a resilient showing on day one, as they amassed 243 runs in overcast conditions. This was mainly due to the impressive performance of world number one batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who scored an impressive unbeaten 87. Despite this impressive performance, the day still belonged to England, particularly Stuart Broad. The England paceman followed up on Jimmy Anderson’s two early wickets to take an excellent 6-72. This acclaim means Stuart Broad has earned a place on both the batting and bowling honours board. With a strong batting line-up, England were looking to take the last wicket quickly, before Chanderpaul can amass too many more runs. Will England be able to have a lead at the end of day two? Will Jonny Bairstow get his chance at the crease? WinkBall reporters Fred and Alex caught up with fans on Friday 18th May 2012 outside Lord’s, finding out their thoughts on the first day’s play and their expectations for the remainder of the Test.
