Aston Villa vs Newcastle

Event Date: 11/04/2011

On Sunday 10th April Newcastle United travelled down to the Midlands to take on surprise league strugglers Aston Villa. After thrashing them 6-0 in the first fixture at St.James Park, the travelling Toon Army were optimistic about their chances. The game was further spiced by the recent elevation to captain of Joey Barton, who in the week leading up to the game had declared in an interview to be the leading English midfielder. Newcastle started the game the more dominant but the deadlock was broken by a 24th minute header by James Collins. The goal had come from a free kick conceded by Joey Barton. In a tight game, Aston Villa started to muscle their way through the game and eventually took it 1-0. Disappointed by the result, the Toon Army fans felt the importance of a new striker was critical for the club. Were you at the game? Whats your feelings on Joey Barton's claims? Is a new striker that important to Newcastle? Press record and share your views at WinkBall.com
