Josh Phillips, composer and keyboard player for influential progressive British rock band Procol Harum thinks that Chicago are the best rock band he has ever seen. He remembers first seeing them in 1976 and hopes to see the band play on these shores again.
There have been a lot of classic rock bands in the world but few have managed to achieve the legendary status of American rock band Chicago. Formed in 1967, the ensemble has five number one albums and has sold a staggering 38 million units. Known for playing a broad spectrum of rock ranging from traditional, jazz and progressive to pop, power and soft their music has captured the hearts of millions of fans the world over. During their successful careers members have picked up Grammy Awards, multiple music awards and have even had a street dedicated to their honour. On Wednesday, 6th July 2011 Chicago played a one off greatest hits show for a packed out crowd at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo. The performance included classic tracks from the seventies, ‘If You Leave Me Now,’ ‘Hard Habit To Break’ and ‘Hard To Say I’m Sorry.’ WinkBall citizen video reporters Grace, Maisa and Stefan were at the venue to capture the passion of those in attendance and find out why the public love Chicago so much!
