English singer and rapper Example performed at the Assembly in Leamington Spa on Monday, 7th March 2011 to an excited crowd of Grime, UK Garage and Post-punk fans. The rapper from London is inspired by Mike Skinner and borrows heavily from Eminem’s sound, with songs dealing with living and growing up as a wannabe rapper. His lyrics are a new take on the issues that are faced in contemporary society with a humorous and imaginative twist. Example, real name Elliot John Gleave, made his breakthrough in 2010 after the release of his second album, Won’t Go Quietly; which spawned the singles Watch the Sun Come Up, Won’t Go Quietly, Kickstarts and Last Ones Standing- all of which peaked within the UK’s Top 40. WinkBall video reporters were there to find out why the fans love Example and what they thought of his performance.
