Now in its third year, the Stoke Newington Literary Festival 2012 started from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd of June. The festival was a perfect day out for families in the community to interact with other families, learn and have fun. On Saturday 2nd June, WinkBall video reporters were at Stoke Newington Town Hall to interact and ask for reviews from residents and the general public who had come to participate in the days' activities. Our reporters first spoke to parents and children to find out their experience at the Usborne Write Your Own Story Book Workshop with Louie Stowell and also when they met everyone’s favourite monster, The Gruffalo! There was a talk on ‘Global Food vs Local Food’ with George Alagiah, Hattie Ellis and Dr Giles Oldroyd. George Alagiah navigates this fascinating debate with food scientist Dr. Giles Oldroyd and investigative food writer Hattie Ellis, author of What To Eat: 10 Chewy Questions about Food. And also a discussion on ‘The Olympic Legacy’ with Iain Sinclair, whose Ghost Milk explores the subject in depth; multi-award winning sci-fi writer China Miéville and Savage Messiah Laura Oldfield Ford, whose perspectives on the city bring fresh insight. Hosted by writer and environmentalist Ken Worpole.
