The Milk at Dingwalls, Camden

Huey from Fun Lovin' Criminals

Huey from Fun Lovin' Criminals

From Chelmsford with Soul; The Milk have rocked up their own style of Motown which has taken the country by storm. Comprised of Ricky Nunn on guitar and lead vocals, Mitch Ayling on drums and backing vocals, Luke Ayling playing bass and Dan Le Gresley on guitar and vocals, the four got together to make music in their hometown after realising they weren't very good at football, in their words. When asked about their sound, they agreed on a boiling pot that mixed together the likes of "The Roots, The Stones and Aretha Franklin", which can clearly be heard in their cover of Toots and the Maytals 1984 track '54-46'. With a lead vocal of raspy soulfulness and smooth melody backed by a tight collaboration of guitars, keyboards and trumpets, they have been compared to legends like Curtis Mayfield and contemporaries like Plan B and Amy Winehouse in their style. They set the stage on fire with their performance at Dingwalls, Camden on Wednesday 2nd November, much to the delight of their fans, as well as those newbies who were seeing the band for the first time. WinkBall reporters Saima and Nketchi were on the scene to catch the band for an interview, and ask their fans just what it is about The Milk that gets them jigging.
