Al Jarreau is a singer and songwriter who was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is the only vocalist in history to win Grammy awards in three different categories namely jazz, pop and R&B. His love of music and performance began at a young age where he sang in the church choir but he didn't pursue his musical passion at first. He began his life as a student firstly receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and then a Masters degree from the University of Iowa and started a career as a social worker. His love of music was too strong,it would not leave him and in 1968 opportunity came knocking and he made his passion his primary vocation. Eventually in 1975 he was spotted by Warner Bros. and released his critically acclaimed debut album 'We Got By', which propelled him into the international spotlight and he won a German Grammy. A second Grammy would follow soon after with the release of his second studio album 'Glow'. The rest as they say is history. As part of the London wide blues festival, Al Jarreau performed at the Royal Festival Hall for his Greatest hits concert and fans heard the hits Moonlighting, After All, Morning, Spain and Take Five to name but a few. WinkBall citizen video reporters were at the gig on Sunday, 3rd July 2011, asking the fans what sets Al Jarreau apart from other artists and any songs they would like to hear tonight.
