Henley Royal Regatta 2011

Event Date: 04/07/2011

Known internationally as the best regatta in the world, the Henley Royal Regatta's rich history and tradition reaches all the way back to 1839. Known back then as the Henley Regatta (pre-dating its patronage) the annual rowing event takes place along the River Thames by the town of Henley-on-Thames. Upon hugely successful completion of the first regatta organisers decided to expand the event from one day to two. In 1986 it grew to three days, four days in 1906 and 80 years later it was further extended to five (Wednesday to Sunday). The event has since gone global bringing in people and competitors from all over. Winning an event at Henley has always been considered one of the greatest achievements of a rower's career, even amongst those who have become world champions. WinkBall citizen video reporters Maisa and Silvia were at the Henley Royal Regatta on Sunday, 3rd July 2011 to capture the passion of the fans and find out what makes the regatta precious above all the others.
