Chelsea v Everton

After the international break, both the Chelsea and Everton were looking to make a mark early on in their return to Premier League action. Out of 9 match-ups against each other, the Blues had only won one whilst the Toffees had taken two leaving the other six as stalemates, five of which took place at Stamford Bridge. Today, however, enough seemed to be enough for Andre Villas-Boas' men as the Blues cruised to a 3-1 victory against the School of Science. The game really began 31 minutes from kick-off when Daniel Sturridge scored off a floater from Ashley Cole. Chelsea’s lead was increased again at the stroke of half time when John Terry headed in an excellent free kick from Lampard. Not to be ones to rest on their Laurels, the Blues made it 3-0 when Ramires slotted in a beautiful delivery from Juan Mata. Everton seemed to lack confidence and commitment as they were out played by the home team with goalkeeper Tim Howard especially paying the price for poop performance. That being said, Apostolos Vellios was able to provide a late goal for the Toffees within minutes of being substituted into play, but it was simply too little, too late. Everton has suffered their third consecutive defeat, whereas Chelsea remains three points off the top of the table. WinkBall video reporters Craig, Fred, Jack and Matt were at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 15th October 2011, to capture the passion of the Blues and Toffees fans in attendance.
