The Entertainers Re-united - Newcastle vs Liverpool

Event Date: 10/10/2011

During the mid-nineties, Kevin Keegan and his Newcastle United team took on the role of everyone’s second favourite team. Known as the entertainers, Newcastle United played some of finest attacking football that has ever been seen in the premiership with footballers like Tino Asprilla, Les Ferdinand, Alan Shearer, Rob Lee, Steve Watson and the legendary Philippe Albert (who now runs a fruit and veg stall in his native Belgium). Renowned for their cavalier style, they played in some of football's most memorable matches including the 5-0 win against Manchester United, the 3-2 beating of Barcelona at the Nou Camp, but their most famous encounters were those against Liverpool. At the time both teams were playing expansive attacking football and their 4-3 meeting is still known as the greatest game in Premiership history. Coming together for the first time since that famous game, both Newcastle and Liverpool were looking to get the win whilst also raising thousands of pounds for the Sir Bobby Robson foundation. Winkball reporters were at Kingston Park on the 9/10/11 talking to fans about how this team compares to their current contemporaries.
