Eee! Weddings are exciting; wedding planning is exciting; shopping is exciting. And you know what else we love? All things vintage! That’s why we were at the Vintage Wedding Fair at York hall, Bethnal Green on Saturday, 31 March, 2012. We’ve embraced dressing, decorating and accessorising with vintage and hand-me-down items in our day-to-day lives, so why wouldn’t you want to embody the glamour of past eras on one of the most special days of your life! The Vintage Wedding Fair is guaranteed to deliver the products because the fair is hosted by vintage and wedding enthusiasts: A Most Curious Party. They hire out vintage props to style your occasion with a unique, by-gone, twist – and what better event to style than a wedding day? The dresses of old are so much better quality, fit and all-round appeal – for the special lady wearing it, the jealous (but proud) bridesmaids and guests, and of course, the blown-away groom. The Vintage Wedding Fair will offer a range of beautiful antique and repro wedding and bridesmaid dresses from all eras; professional hair and make-up stylists to style you to suit your chosen time period; and sublime statement jewellery, millinery and other accessories – all to make sure you spend your wedding looking and feeling perfectly crafted for your favourite era, with an old-school glamour that can only be created with vintage products. There will be over 50 companies and creatives exhibiting at the Vintage Wedding Fair – as well as the companies there to dress you up, there are the stalls looking to dress up your venue. You can kick it all off by sending out vintage-style invitations, thanks to the vintage-influenced stationary stalls. Vintage crockery and decorations, creative florists, and large and cute cupcakes can decorate your table tops. All of the stallholders have been selected to exhibit with an understanding attitude, looking to offer bespoke services for you, with creative flair and expert vintage style. Express your and your grooms true panache with a day designed just how you perfectly envisage it. And if all the looking around tuckers you out, the Most Curious Vintage Wedding Fair have it figured out – there’s a tea room full of A Most Curious Party goodies: delicious cakes and tea, all served in atmospheric antique crockery by 1940s and ‘50s waitresses. There will also be live music – to whet your appetite and inspire the sound for your reception – from Barber Shop Quartets, a Beatles cover band, to an adorable husband and wife string band. So what – other than the obvious – brought the attendees to the wedding fair, and more importantly… what did they buy?! We’ve gathered a few ‘proposal stories’ to coo at too.
