Achieving 23 top 40 singles and 17 top 40 albums in a career that has spanned over five decades, the Stranglers have to be classed as the longest-surviving and the most “continuously successful” band that came out of the British punk scene. With timeless hits like “Golden Brown”, “Peaches” and “No more Heroes” the band shows how eclectic its music can be. Whilst Golden Brown is a more melodic “love” song, Peaches is far more of an obvious punk style song and then No More Heroes draws in inspiration from the new wave genre. With such a diverse back catalogue then fans will be in for a treat and Winkball was there to chat to them outside the O2 Academy Newcastle.
