Newmarket racecourse hosted the highlight of The Piper Heidsieck Festival on Saturday, July 9th with Europe’s premier sprint race, the Darley July Cup. As the excitement of Royal Ascot finished, the summer of fun was extended for race goers who were given another chance during the three day festival to put on their finest clothes and outfits. Seven pulsating races were closely contested in a day that was built around the focus race which saw the finest and fastest thoroughbreds battle it out for the prestigious July Cup. Favourite for the cup, Delegator, was regarded as the horse to beat and prior to the race was still on the hunt for his first Group One win.
