Newcastle Falcons vs Exeter Chiefs

Event Date: 20/02/2011

Winkball were at Kingston Park in Newcastle to cover the relegation dogfight between the Newcastle Falcons and the Exeter Chiefs. The sides had met 4 times so far this season with both sides winning twice. However, the former Championship side, Exeter, sit above the Falcons with quite a large point’s cushion after an excellent first season of top flight football. The Falcons, on the other hand, have had a dreadful season leaving them 3 points off the bottom of the Premiership. Despite having a talented side the Falcons have failed to pull themselves up the table and their own mistakes are the main reason for their downfall. However, the Falcons show signs of their ability and if the can hold their nerve they should be good enough to stay up this year and push on the next. The new signings of Euan Murray, Andrew Van der Heijden and Ricky Sheriffe should push the Falcons on next year and help to develop the very capable youth that the Falcons are bringing through. Winkball were at Kingston Park talking to both sets of fans, asking them about the match.
