Jamie Cullum played to an excited crowd at the HMV Forum on Tuesday, 18th October. The talented star has a lot to show for his nine-year presence on the music scene, but we must remember that he built himself a career in music from scratch. Coming from a background in Jazz, the singer-songwriter was discovered on Michael Parkinson’s show after releasing an initially self-funded album with Candid Records. His repertoire consists of pop, jazz-pop and even modern elements like house tracks, using looping stations and beatboxing during performances. With a wide variety of influences over five albums starting with ‘Pointless Nostalgic’ and his most recent being ‘The Pursuit’, Jamie proves to be an innovative and tirelessly progressive musician again and again. WinkBall reporters Julia, Matt and Tom were on the scene to talk to fans about the artist and his albums, asking about how his sound has progressed over the years. If you were there and have something to say, you can! Just record a Wink to the wall below.
