QIPCO British Champions Series: Nassau Stakes - Final Day

Event Date: 30/07/2011

The Final day of the QIPCO British Champions Series at Glorious Goodwood did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic and so was the racing. Frankie Dettori and Opinion Poll not only won the vote but the Goodwood cup on Saturday, 30th July 2011. The race built up to a dramatic end, which saw Lost In The Moment give chase to Dettori's champion and almost close the gap between them. Though Dettori managed to muster the strength to get Opinion Poll home the same could not be said for his famous flying dismount. He left a wanting crowd disappointed for once, but this was only due to the jockey's hairline fracture of his toe, which he suffered from his fall from the ill-fated Rewilding in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last weekend. Opinion Poll will now be pointed towards the stayers' championship race on the inaugural Champions Day at Ascot on 15 October, the richest day's racing in British history.
