War Horse film premeire: Leicester Square Odeon

Sunday 8th January, 2011 – Steven Spielberg was at the helm of another classic, in his move adaptation of the children’s novel ‘War Horse’, written by Michael Morpurgo. The book has earned great critical acclaim, as has Nick Stafford’s stage adaptation of War Horse. So legendary Spielberg’s adaptation is anticipated with breath that is baited – the trailer is enough to stir emotion: a Word War I biopic that is inclusive of animal empathy and stirs memories of Black Beauty vs. All Quiet on the Western Front? WinkBall Reporters heard straight from the horse’s mouth, from attendees at the War Horse UK film premiere at London’s famous Leicester Square. As well as our lovely reporters and members of the public, the Red Carpet was graced by the cast – including War Horse’s equine star, Joey – hundreds of current and ex-military members and their families, Prince William and the truly stunning Duchess of Cambridge – present of course because the event was held in aid of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry. The film of course follows the tale of a boy’s attempt to trail his beloved horse that was sold to the cavalry and shipped to France at the outbreak of World War I. It follows the horse, Joey’s, painful journey through to No Man’s Land and his young owner, Albert’s, desperate and dangerous attempt to find him and return him home to Devon.
