Alan has been involved in table tennis for fifty years and played for the England team as well as coached other England players. He talks about his experience in the sport from a grass roots to international level.
Between Friday 4th and Sunday 6th March, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield hosted the ETTA National Table Tennis Championships. The ETTA calls the Championships the most sought after and prestigious event in the domestic calendar, and when over 260 English players travel from all over the country to compete, it is not hard to see why. There is opportunity to become an English National champion in 11 categories throughout the three-day tournament. Our WinkBall reporters caught up with some of the competitors, and potential 2012 candidates including Paul Drinkhall, Joanna Parker, Darius Knight and Andrew Baggaley. We also spoke to members of the English Table Tennis Association, British Table Tennis Association and Olympic Committee.
