England v West Indies: Day Four (review from Lords)

by Sports Reporters

The First Test series between England and West Indies was stretched to another day on the fourth test day, making it a full five days of cricket and ensuring purist cricket fans got their fill of cricket and complete money’s worth.

Playing at Lords on Sunday 20th May 2012, the fourth day of the test series saw an unexpected comeback from West Indies as they clawed back the large defecit that England had achieved over them so far in the series. Thanks to some inspired displays from Marlon Samuels and Denesh Ramdin who scored high for the Windies, inspiration also came in the form of talismanic batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul who led the fight back against England, with him only nine shy of a century.

Where fans were hoping that this test series would be wrapped up by lunchtime with an England victory, West Indies’ performance frustrated England with this comeback and delayed their celebrations by a day.

This was arguably a typical yet classic test match; slow, absorbing but grinding for spectators. The West Indies comeback ensured there was to be another day of cricket for fans, much to their delight. Now looking forward to the final test day on Monday, the Windies have given their chances of winning the series a good chance although it still looks likely that England will come out triumphant. No matter what the outcome, it all has made for a great few days of cricket.

On Sunday 20th May 2012, WinkBall video reporters Stefan and Lucio were down at Lords speaking to fans getting their reactions to the fourth day of the test series between England and West Indies and what they made of the West Indies comeback, including that terrific performance from Chanderpaul.
