Uni Music League 2012

Event Date: 21/04/2012

Get ready for the ultimate battle of the university bands! After intense competition between 56 bands from 21 universities, the final four have been decided. And they are: Ghouls (University of Westminster), Shout Timber (University College London), Wolf Tracks (Imperial College London) and Miss Terry Blue (King’s College London). On Friday 20th April, 2012, the winner was chosen by the public and announced by Uni of Music League at the University of London Union venue. Ghouls’ very own, Rob says that their influences range from: “Mumford and Sons to System of a Down”. And Ghouls have jumped the gun by releasing their latest EP, ‘Original Rudeboy’ on the same night as their final battle for Uni Music League. Meanwhile, Shout Timber promised an exciting night of “new songs, rolling on the floor and jumping around on stage” for their fans. Wolf Tracks describes their sound as a fusion of the members’ varying backgrounds of classical, indie and electronic music. The band was psyched to be competing and admitted that they: “honestly never believed” that they would have made it to the final. After the semi-finals, Miss Terry Blue’s lead vocalist says that, “the crowd was really amazing” and, “the atmosphere was so good to perform”. The lucky four competed to work with Gotham’s music producer, Charlie Hugall. Hugall has produced music for Florence and the Machine and Ed Sheeran. He has also worked with the likes of Kaiser Chiefs and The Maccabees. The champion band will get the opportunity of a lifetime to produce a three song EP with Hugall. For these university bands, this could be their breakthrough moment, so the pressure was definitely on. Winkball video reporters were at University of London for the Uni of Music League Finals to ask attendees what they thought of the night. Who did they come to see? Do they think that the best band won?
