Alkaline Trio: Electric Ballroom

by Gig Reporters 2012

Rescheduled from their original November dates, the Alkaline Trio still managed to electrify the Electric Ballroom in Camden six months later, as they hit it loud on May 10, 2012.

The Chicago punk rock threesome called off their Autumn tour after their key front man, Matt Skiba, broke his arm – no use for a guitarist! But they came back with an acoustic vengeance to perform from their eighth studio album of intimate, semi-unplugged, punk rock. It is, therefore, a selection of fan favorites, new tracks and a couple of covers. All in all, great opportunity for fans to reminisce and revel in the rock of new songs.

The boys have been around since December 1996, releasing their first full-length studio albums: ‘Goddamnit’ and ‘Maybe I’ll Catch Fire’ in 1998 and 2000. Over a decade later, they are still filling venues across the globe and reaching better success – as 2010’s ‘The Addiction’ charted higher than any other of their albums and ‘Damnesia’ celebrated 15-years in the industry.

With exhilarating rock and stage presence, combined with emotive lyrics and instrumentals, there was something for everyone on the Camden High Road venue.
