Event Date: 27/07/2011

Shammi Pithia performed with his band Flux and Hari Sivanesan last night, Tuesday 26th July 2011. The night was hosted by Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre. Their performance was a contemporary fusion of Indian and Sir Lankan music with a classical touch. Shammi, the young British Asian and his band, treated audiences to a fresh, beautiful and exciting live show. Coming from a musical family, Shammi’s music has a natural grounding in the artistic philosophy of India. His debut album “Audio Descriptive” was well received by both fans and critics. Some of his best known tunes are “Sweet Nothings”, “Switch”, “The Seeker”, “Cinema for the Ears”, and “Paredolia” from his latest album. Hari Sivanesan, the young talented and veena player also delighted audiences. He is currently BBC radio 3’s World Routes academy mentee and award winner of the Asian Music Circuit aged 13. Hari performed in 2011 at the BBC Proms and WOMAD festival. Our reporters Karen and Fred were at Southbank, talking to fans to find out their thoughts about Shammi Pithia, Hari Sivanesan and their impressions about the show.
