Christina Perri: O2 Shepherds Bush Empire

by Gig Reporters 2012

One of the brighter musical stars to break through in 2011, singer-songwriter Christina Perri has made a name for herself in the music industry with her top selling single “Jar of Hearts”. This haunting ballad from Perri was a perfect example of the power of music when featured on television. After the song appeared on hit American dance reality show 'So You Think You Can Dance' back in 2010, the track found momentum and was soon climbing the charts with it finding great success online, eventually clocking over 2,000,000 digital downloads. It's story continued with it then being featured on American smash hit show 'Glee' and later performed both on The UK and US version of 'The X-Factor 2011' by contestants Craig Colton and Josh Krajcik. The song's success and popularity confirmed it as one of the anthems of 2011.

Hailing from Philadelphia in the United States, Perri plays both the guitar and piano and her music is seen as a blend of pop, alternative rock with some elements of soul. Her debut album 'lovestrong' which features her signature track “Jar of Hearts” was released in May 2011 with it respectively reaching number 9 in the UK charts and number 4 on the US Billboard.
