England v Wales at Twickenham

Event Date: 06/08/2011

Twickenham, the home of English rugby was the venue for the clash between two neighbouring nations on Saturday, 6th August as both prepare for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Players were looking to impress their coaches in order to gain a place in their final squads and have back to back matches against the same team to do so. With ten English players facing the chop the game was full of passion and fight as none of them wanted to miss out. Wales went in to the game as under dogs after enduring a poor run of form which has meant nine defeats in thirteen matches, meanwhile England knew a win may take them to number four in the IRB world rankings. The game itself was a very close encounter with England just holding the edge over Wales with a final score of 23-19. Both teams will be able to take positives from the friendly, with Wales almost mounting an unlikely comeback, scoring three well-worked tries in the game. England on the other hand will be pleased with the way new boy Manu Tuilagi settled in, scoring on his debut.
