In a tightly contested game that saw an extremely close score-line, Harlequins defeated the Leicester Tigers 30-23 to claim their first ever English Championship in the AVIVA Premiership Final at Twickenham Stadium. With both teams playing in the searing London heat, the match was an exhaustive game with players fully tested to the extreme and to their limits. After being left disappointed in their previous encounter with Leicester, which saw the Tigers come out triumphant, the Harlequins display at Twickenham suggested they were not out for a repeat of this defeat and their attitude was that of a determined and resolute team wanting victory. With tries flying in at both ends for both teams, it was Harlequins’ player Nick Evans and his combative display that separated both sides with him scoring six penalties and one conversion. When the final whistle came, there was a sense of relief that filtered throughout the stadium for Harlequin fans. Despite Leicester not giving up in this fixture and refusing to lie down, Harlequins managed to hold on see the victory out and grab their first title. On Saturday 26th May 2012, WinkBall video reporters were down at Twickenham Stadium for the AVIVA Premiership Final between Harlequins and Leicester Tigers, speaking to both sets of fans and finding out their thoughts both pre and post match.
