Regina Spektor is one of those artists whose boldness is developing the contemporary music scene without necessarily being in the media spotlight. Coming from a Russian Jewish family background, Regina grew up in New York’s Bronx, where she studied classical piano and started combining her love for classical music with hip hop, rock and punk. The incredibly creative Regina, achieved recognition throughout her performances in the anti-folk scene of New York where she first introduced her vibrant songs full of unusual scenarios, entertaining characters and interesting mixture of styles. Listening to an artist with such abstract personality and extensive vocal range is not everyone’s cup of tea but it is definitely worth giving it a go. Often described as dorky or a little bit ‘kooky’, Regina has definitely found a way to charm the public with her undeniable talent and incredible allure. WinkBall video reporters Billy and Zoe spoke to Regina’s fans at her concert at the Royal Albert Hall, London on the 2nd of July 2012, to find out what is the magic that draws them so deep into Spektor’s music.
