As part of the great north weekend winkball reporters were at the great north city games. This was where the cream of American talent was placed up against top athletes from the UK. Events included the Bupa 1 and 2 mile run, the 100m and 110m hurdles, long jump, pole volt and the 100m and 150m sprint. Taking part included world 5000m gold medalist Mo Farah, world 1500m silver medalist Hannah England, world 110m hurdles champion Jason Richardson and world 100m champion Carmelita Jeter. Winkball reporters were at Newcastle's quayside on saturday the 17th of september talking to the runners, spectators and even the athletes themselves at the Great North City Games.
