Everybody In Love with JLS was at Birmingham’s LG Arena on Tuesday 17 April to make sure the venue was Alive with the sound of music – and the sound of screaming fans! Already three studio albums into their career since finishing second in the 2008 series of The X Factor; the boys have gone from strength to strength and have really raised the boy-band bar – especially for future talent show try-outs that have followed in their wake, (like One Direction). Jack The Lad Swing – as they are rarely, if ever, called – saw all three albums (JLS, Outta This World, and Jukebox) go Platinum in the UK and Ireland. And for good reason. Their singles are amazing, and the boys – Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill – have rarely stopped working since they signed for Epic Records in January 2009, with yearly album releases and long-haul tours to promote them. Not that any of their fans are complaining! They may have only had One Shot to win The X Factor, but they have gone on to be one of the ITV1 show’s most successful acts ever; creating a credibility that talent show acts rarely earn. They have released not one but two charity singles (not including the ‘Hero’ and ‘Everybody Hurts’ X Factor releases) – ‘Love You More’ from 2010’s Outta This World was the official Children in Need single, while ‘Proud’, from their upcoming fourth album, was the official Sport Relief track. Aww. Do You Feel What I Feel?... A lot of love for them, I mean? The fans at the LG Arena know what I mean – they were standing outside the venue with their Eyes Wide Shut, asking themselves: ‘JLS: could I Love You More’? And I’m not sure they could… They love the band, that’s for sure – but which of the boys is the fan favourite? Aston is the only one without a lady-friend, so unsurprisingly he is always a top choice. And just because Marvin in engaged to The Saturday’s’ Rochelle Wiseman doesn’t mean he can’t still be a favourite… right? Our reporters put this question to the fans, too: “Imagine: ‘There’s a DJ playing all your favourite (JLS) songs – do you hear what I hear?” I know, sounds like a pretty good party – a JLS party. But which song IS your favourite? The original (and still the best?) ‘Beat Again’? Or the more Euro-dance inspired, ‘She Makes Me Wanna’? Something else? A ballad? Oh, I don’t know, there’s so much choice – I’m walking a Tightrope of best songs, here! Whatever track you prefer; whichever band member you like the best; one thing is for sure – you all think JLS are Outta This World, and they Make you Wanna ‘Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh’!
