Occupy Cape Town - World Revolution

Event Date: 15/10/2011

Thousands of protestors around the world took to the streets on the 15th of October, rallying against our global political and economic systems. Cape Town was no exception, citizens occupied the Parliament Company Gardens in the CBD, as part of Operation Ubuntu – the Nguni word being particularly appropriate now, symbolising a spirit of kinship and community. The Operation is in solidarity with the Wallstreet Occupation. It is a leaderless resistance movement that aims to raise awareness about the state of our world and the powers that control it. It’s the people taking a stand for justice. This slogan sums it up perfectly: “We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. “ Is this the start of a revolution, a new global order?
