In commemoration of 16 June 1976 (Soweto Uprising) and 25 years in broadcasting, Metro FM staged a “Walk for Freedom” from the Morris Isaackson High School to Phefeni Junior Secondary School in Vilakazi Street, Soweto, Johannesburg. June 16, no a public holiday, honours the deaths of hundreds of Soweto schoolchildren, a day that changed the course of the country's history. The walk will gave listeners an opportunity to retrace the steps of those heroes who resuscitated the fight for democracy and gave today's youth an opportunity to experience what their predecessors went through.
