TOTO at Hammersmith Apollo

Event Date: 27/06/2011

The gurus of the pop, rock, funk and jazz group TOTO, blew fans away on Sunday 26th June in a rare performance at the Hammersmith Apollo. The LA band was formed in 1977 by high school friends David Paich, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate and Jeff Porcaro who together became renowned for their perfect pitched sound and infectious stage presence, which has seen them clock up over 30 million sales worldwide. It’s no wonder that everybody names their impeccable musicianship as their top quality when each member maintains successful solo careers that has seen them win Grammy’s in their own rights. Drummer Simon Phillips has played with the likes of The Who, Jeff Beck and Judas Priest, current vocalist Joseph Williams, has recorded with Peter Cetera and been in demand as a soundtrack vocalist for films such as The Lion King and City of Angels whilst guitarist Steve Lukather, has performed as a session guitarist with artists the likes of Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Stevie Nicks. TOTO did not disappoint as fans were treated to tracks such as Hold the Line, Rosanna, Africa, Pamela and I Won’t Hold You Back. Check out interviews with fans of the band from WinkBall video reporters who captured the passion and the praise before and after this year's one and only UK concert!
