On Friday 29th July, WinkBall citizen video reporters were at the WOMAD Festival speaking to the many fans in attendance. The WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) Festival is renowned as one of the top festivals for International music. Bringing together world music artists from all over the world, WOMAD is one of the musical highlights on the festival calendar. Co-founded by former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel, WOMAD first emerged as a music festival back in 1982 and has since gone from strength to strength. Celebrating different forms of music, arts and dance from around the globe, WOMAD is the pinnacle festival for world music. Located in the charming setting of Charlton Park in the rural surroundings of Malmesbury, Wiltshire; this year’s WOMAD festival hosted an eclectic line-up of International artists from a wide range of different countries. Acts the likes of Mexican guitar act Rodrigo y Gabriela, Manchester based band I Am Kloot, gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello and folk band Bellowhead were just some of the fantastic names who were performing. Talking to the many World music fans who had travelled to take in the WOMAD experience, WinkBall reporters asked fans who they were looking forward to seeing perform, what has been their favourite song of 2011, what is their festival survival tip and much more!
