Monday 18th July 2011 marked the first show in Rufus Wainwright's 'Five Nights of Velvet, Glamour and Guilt' at the Royal Opera House. The American-Canadian singer/songwriter is renowned for his fusion of classical music with pop (Baroque pop, operatic pop) and boasts an impressive catalogue of albums displaying complex layering and harmonies over rock instrumentation. As the first solo artist ever to take residency at the Royal Opera House, Wainwright was set to take his audience by storm starting off with 'Rufus Does Judy' with Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Stephen Oremus on Day 1. WinkBall video reporters April, Lucho and Silvia spoke to fans in attendance before and after the performance gathering their views and verdicts on one of the world's most innovative musicians and live performers. Are you a fan of Rufus Wainwright? Why not leave your thoughts on his music by recording a wink!
