Miike Snow: Brixton Academy

Miike Snow: Brixton Academy

On Thursday 31st May 2012, indie pop lovers were in their masses at the 02 Brixton Academy for the performance of Swedish pop band Miike Snow who put in a storming set for fans. The band, comprising of members Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg and Andrew Wyatt, have gained a popular following since the release of their eponymous debut album ‘Miike Snow’ back in 2009. The album caught music critics’ attention with their sound being reminiscent of legendary 80s synth pop band ‘A-Ha’ and was heralded as a pop triumph for the group. Not only producers of their own music, the group have worked with and mixed for a number of huge musical acts such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Kelis, Depeche Mode, Kings of Leon and Britney Spears, with the band being responsible for the production of the latter’s smash hit dance track “Toxic”, of which they won a prestigious Grammy award. Down at the Brixton Academy for the Miike Snow gig were WinkBall video reporters Alex and Archie who were at the gig speaking to the many fans there and finding out what had brought them down to see the band in action.
