On Saturday, 22 October 2011, WinkBall video reporters were at yet another Midlands derby. This time it was Aston Villa, the team from Birmingham, taking on local rivals from the Blackcountry, West Bromwich Albion. West Brom had not won at Villa Park in the League since 1979, and Aston Villa was coming into the match on the back of a bad defeat to Manchester City. In the early part of the first half, it was all Aston Villa, who were rewarded for their play with a penalty which was converted by Darren Bent. As the game neared the end of the first half, Villa had Herd sent off. The Baggie’s had a chance to get back in the game with a penalty of their own, but Chris Brunt Squandered the chance to draw them level; however, Brunt redeemed himself by sending a brilliant corner kick into the box in the 45th minute. Jonas Olsson got his head to the ball and powered it into the back of the net, levelling the match at 1-1 before halftime. WBA's ultimate winner came from another corner in the 57th minute, as Villa's marking was shocking. However, that's not to take anything away from the goal scorer, Paul Scharner, who hit an absolutely brilliant finish on a volley from close range. Both teams had their opportunities at the end as the final five minutes was a seriously up and down affair, but Villa couldn't find an equalizer, and it was the Baggie’s who went home very happy.
