Event Date: 16/07/2011

Friday, 15th of July was the opening night for the BBC Proms 2011. The evening was graced by an amazing programme line up which naturally did not disappoint lovers of classical music. Attendees were treated to tunes by: Judith Weir’s World Premiere of Stars, Night, Music and Light which one audience said ‘it summed up what the BBC Proms is about’; Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2, Janáček Glagolitic Mass; and Brahms Academic Festival Overture. These wonderful tunes came alive by: Benjamin Grosvensor and David Goode playing the piano and organ; the enchanting voices of the Hibla Gerzmava, soprano; Dagmar Pecková, mezzo-soprano; Stefan Vinke tenor; Jan Martiník bass; BBC Singers; BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC Symphony Orchestra. The man in charge of this set up was conductor Jiří Bělohlávek. WinkBall reporters were there to find out from the attendees what their expectations were for the night, what makes the BBC Proms special and their highlights of the concert.
