Mr “Brown Sugar” a.k.a D’Angelo has taken to the stage at last, after a twelve year sabbatical. These patient neo-soul fans finally got their chance at the Brixton Academy on Friday 3rd February 2012 to experience the sweet and super smooth falsetto R&B star Live! Q magazine listed D’Angelo as one of the 50 bands to see before you die, guess these guys should be one step closer to heaven. The last time he toured was to promote the album “Voodoo” performing with the Soulsonics. The magic certainly worked, with "Voodoo" charting straight in at No.1, winning 2 Grammy awards and going platinum. Rolling Stone magazine listed "Voodoo" as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. This tour is leading up to the third yet to be released “James River” album, which is said to include contributions from none other than Prince, Ceelo Green and Mark Ronson. Has this award winning singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer still got the magic that blazed a path for the likes of Maxwell, Erykah Badu, and Lauryn Hill. These people thought so, was it the new material or the classics like, Brown Sugar, Lady, Me and Those Dreamin' Eyes and Untitled (How does it feel?), that got the crowd ‘Higher’, Winkball citizen video reporters Archie and Zoe had to find out!
