Donovan at Royal Albert Hall

Event Date: 04/06/2011

Scottish Poet, songwriter, guitarist and singer Donovan played at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 3rd June, 2011. The spectacular night of performance with the London Contemporary Orchestra was a combination of his classic 1966 album "Sunshine Superman" and a selection of his hits. Dr. Donovan has developed an electric and distinctive style of music that combines jazz, folk, pop and psychedelia genres of music. With a career of 45years, Donovan had a string of top 40 hits such as "Wear Your Love Like Heaven", "Sunshine Superman", "Atlantis", "Mellow Yellow" and many more in mid 1960s. The folk-psych-pop legend is among the few artist to collaborate on songs with the Beatles and influenced Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison in their style of play of the guitar. In 2012 Donovan was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Our reporters Fred, Jess and Laurent were at the Royal Albert Hall to ask fans their favourite songs, why and what they like about Donovan and how they got introduced to his music.
