Anna Calvi was announced as one of the artists to lead this year’s Summer Series at Somerset House gigs in London. This is due to be Calvi’s only London concert this year – so it’s the time for fans to catch her, and at one of the most aesthetically pleasing venues she’ll ever get to perform at. She’ll be sure to give a just-as-beautiful performance, and a step up from her headline show at Shepherds Bush Empire last year. The Summer Series is set in the spectacular courtyard of one of London's most celebrated historic buildings – it is one of London’s best-loved and unique concert series of the summer. Calvi is a born Londoner so will enjoy performing for her hometown; she grew up knowing music was her passion and vocation, so surrounded herself from a broad selection of music from an early age: opera, West African, the blues and in particular flamenco. These influences are reflected in her eponymous debut album – about lust, love, devils, and dramatic surrealism. It aurally reads as a musical biography. Calvi is performing on July 12 alongside support acts Eugene McGuinness and Cold Specks.
