Event Date: 19/04/2011

WinkBall citizen video reporters were at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Saturday 16th April 2011 for the WBA light-welterweight title bout between Amir Khan and Paul McCloskey. It was Khan's first UK fight in two years since winning the belt and becoming the third youngest Briton to win a world title. His opponent, McCloskey, holds the European light-welterweight championship and his record posed a tough test for Khan's reign. WinkBall reporters were there to speak to fans of both fighters about the contest and with Amir Khan finding fame and success at the Olympics, views on the introduction of women's boxing at London 2012 were also gathered. The fight itself ended in controversy, as the referee stopped action in the sixth round after a clash of heads, with Khan coming out victorious. That aside, there were lots of passionate supporters of both boxers who shared their enthusiasm for the sport and the progress that women's boxing will make next year. Were YOU at the MEN Arena tonight? What did you make of the fight? Can women's boxing ever reach the heights of the men's? Will we see high-profile mixed cards in the future?
