In the run up to the Olympic Games in London this summer, a number of test events and International tournaments have been contested by Olympic hopefuls as a selection process in the discipline that is shooting. For Team GB, shooting is one of the most successful disciplines in terms of amount of Olympic gold medals won, with the team winning a total of 29 gold medals in previous Games. This summer at London 2012, Team GB hope once again to do well and win a number of gold medals for the discipline of shooting. Looking to represent Team GB Shooting at the Games, athletes the likes of Peter Wilson, James Huckle and Steven Walton are vying for a spot on the Olympic squad and do their country proud. The home where shooting will be showcased to the public come summer 2012 for the Games, will be the famous Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, South East London. Beginning on Tuesday 17th April 2012, and ending on Saturday 28th April 2012, the Royal Artillery Barracks were the location for the ISSF World Cup. This international tournament is considered an exciting teaser to the forthcoming Olympic Games what with the cream of International Shooting talent competing against each other. On Saturday 21st April 2012, for the fifth day of competition, WinkBall video reporters Daniel and Tom were down at the Royal Artillery Barracks to speak to both competitors and attendees of the ISSF World Cup. Speaking to attendees and general Shooting enthusiasts, they were asked what makes shooting such a special spectator’s sport and will they be watching the Olympic coverage of the sport come this summer. Also talking to a number of Team GB Olympic hopefuls, they were asked about how their training was progressing in the run up to the 2012 Olympics, their hopes of qualifying for Team GB, and how the British Shooting World Class Performance Programme has helped them as athletes?
