The wait is finally over! Seven years in the making, the London 2012 Olympics have arrived and the city capital was in great spirits as this historic and grandiose sporting event made its long awaited debut. On Friday 27th July 2012, to herald and celebrate the opening of the games in London, the Olympic Park in Stratford City, London, hosted the highly anticipated Olympic opening ceremony which would see thousands of performers, dancers and singers take to the stage and would see the Olympic flame make its final destination with the lighting of the cauldron. Directed by visionary British filmmaker Danny Boyle, the event has cost an estimate £27 million and would surely be the highlight of the summer games in London. The ceremony has been a great area of interest for many people, with many not knowing what the ceremony would feature and would be like. WinkBall reporters Alex and Zoe headed down to the heart of the East End in London’s Victoria Park, just round the corner from Stratford, to find out from the people, their expectations of the evening and who they thought should light the flame at the close of the ceremony.
