The Two Worlds of Charlie F: Theatre Royal Haymarket

Event Date: 25/01/2012

One of the most treasured theatres in the West End, invited to it’s home a unique production, portraying the lives of servicemen and women. The Two Worlds of Charlie F, is unique indeed, as the former soldiers were not only used as source material, but were also the actors acting under the bright and unfamiliar stage lights. Through their acting, realism was brought to the faces of the public based on the accounts of their day-to-day journey, post war. With honesty, the 30 wounded, injured and sick Service personnel acted out openly. Those that came to watch the play commended the elements of bravery, courage, honesty and professionalism shown throughout. The way in which the play dealt with the survival of soldiers who have served in the Afghanistan war was seen as very formidable. The Two Worlds of Charlie F is described to be a “soldier’s view of service, injury and recovery.” The Two Worlds of Charlie F, is a new play written by Owen Sheers and directed by Stephen Rayne, only shown twice on Sunday 22nd January 2012. Created in partnership between the Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust and The Royal British Legion. The Bravo 22 Company is a unique project developed to use theatre as an empowering and active experience that will aid in their recovery process. Working under the guidance of a team of professional theatre makers and supported by Patrons Sir Trevor Nunn and Ray Winstone, the members of The Bravo 22 Company were involved in all creative aspects of the play from performing and design to lighting and stage management. WinkBall reporters Archie and Lucio were there to talk to audiences about the play. Perhaps you spoke to one of our WinkBall reporters?
