Skrillex: O2 Brixton Academy

Skrillex (or should he now be called Mr Skrillex, as he’s just been awarded 3 of the 4 Grammy’s he was nominated for) brought his sell out tour to London’s O2 Brixton Academy on Friday 17th February, the young US drum and bass producer/DJ thrilled his audience, with his very particular brand of in your face hard-hitting drums and sub sonic bass. Skrillex aka Sonny John Moore has already had a successful career as the front man of From First to Last, an emo post-hardcore outfit that thrashed and banged for about 3 years before his throat said no! Now the superstar DJ has spent the last 5 years making music alone on his laptop touring the world and performing. He’s touring the UK to lay the way for his yet released rumoured album “Voltage”, with track like "True Gangsters", "My Good Bye" and "Devil's Nest" and other tunes created on the tour bus during the Mothership tour, all unreleased and as yet none have been confirmed for the album. The hot stepping crowd were served up “Rock n Roll” anthems like “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, “First of the Year (Equinox) “and “Cinema”. Winkball citizen reporters Alex and Oliver did the shuffle all the ay to south London’s Brixton Academy to get reviews from the up for dance crowd.
