Record Store Day 2012 at Rough Trade East

Rough Trade Record Store Day

Rough Trade Record Store Day

Good old vinyl proves it can still sell out, as nostalgic music lovers gathered at London’s Rough Trade East, in the trendy area of Brick Lane, on Saturday, 21st April 2012, for special releases from over 300 artists. It was the perfect event for the digital defiers yearning for the sweet memories of the past and upholding a belief in the superiority of the black magic disc. New material, cover tracks and studio outtakes came from some of this generation’s coolest bands; Arctic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club, Noel Gallagher and Kasabian, transporting indie rock fans to music heaven. According to NME, Record Store Day UK chief Spencer Hickman said, the Arctic Monkeys' release has been particularly popular, with 250 “flying off the shelves” in 15 minutes. To hear from the fans, as well as artists, check out the videos below which include interviews with Rob Graham from Wet Nuns and English folk rock band front man, Johnny Flynn.
