Richard III - Liverpool Shakespeare Festival

Richard III - Liverpool Shakespeare Festival

Sunday 11th September saw the closing night of Liverpool's annual Shakespeare Festival with a performance of Richard III at the iconic and opulent setting of St. George's Hall. Artistic Director for Lodestar Theatre Company, Max Rubin and Producer Simon Hedger kindly spoke to WinkBall amidst their hectic rehearsal schedule to tell us of the delights on offer this year. Lodestar Theatre Company has been going since 2006 and is a site specific theatre company. Initially performing in outdoor venues, the great Liverpool weather has since made them rethink and now they only perform indoors. They never use theatres in favour of transforming familiar spaces to make people interact with them in different ways. This year the iconic St. George's Hall is opening its doors and all of the festival productions will be taking place inside the auspicious setting of the Small Concert Room. Lodestar have thrown down the gauntlet to 25 theatre companies around the country to each tackle a scene from Richard III with just a £10.00 production budget and an attachable hump apiece. All 25 companies came together for the first time last night for this unique performance which has been entitled 'Come And Have A Go If You Think You Are Bard Enough'. As ever, WinkBall Citizen Video Reporters were down at St. George's Hall to speak to the audience before and after tonight's performance. Have a listen to what they had say and feel free to add your own voice
