Pecha Kucha

Pecha Kucha

Devised in Tokyo in 2003 as a venue for young people to meet, network, and show their work in public, Pecha Kucha has turned into a global phenomenon with events happening in over 330 cities worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese phrase for the sound of 'chit chat', it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea - 20x20 - twenty images in twenty seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. Pecha Kucha nights are informal and fun gatherings where creative people get together and share their ideas, works, thoughts, photographs - just about anything really. Winkball citizen video reporters Haylee and Kyle were at Assembly in Cape Town on 7 June 2011 to check out the event and speak to the excited people there to participate. Check out what they had to say or post your own ideas here!
