Bassment Jaxx vs Metropole Orkest at Barbican

In a world with music history as rich as ours originality is a rare thing nowadays. However every so often something happens that nobody could of foreseen, something so uniquely entertaining that only those that saw it or heard would ever hope to have an understanding of what transpired. Some call it genuine inspiration and on Thursday, 14th July 2011 at the Barbican in London 'Basement Jaxx vs Metropole Orkest' came as a revelation to the audience. Playing tracks from their new album of the same name the combination of Basement Jaxx's skewed take on dance music, Metropole Orkest's cutting edge approach to orchestral interpretation and Jules Buckley’s revolutionary arrangements and conducting style has led the ensemble to create something special. The 70 strong orchestra were joined by singers from Basement Jaxx's legendary live shows Vula Malinga & Sharlene Hector, Brendan Reilly and Lisa Kekaula from garage-rockers, The Bellrays. Le Gateau Chocolat, star of London's cabaret scene leant his vocals as a surprise guest singer. There were also dance performances from US jookin' sensation, Lil Buck, and London dancer, Jennifer White. Our reporters were on hand to capture the passion of the fans attending the performance. If YOU were there and we missed talking to you or if you have something you would like to share about Basement Jaxx or the Metropole Orkest please record a reply to this wall on WinkBall.com!
