Tottenham v Newcastle United

Tottenham Hotspurs 5 – 0 Newcastle United. It’s been quite a week for Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, the story of his much publicised tax allegations that have been strung out for some time, finally came to an end on Tuesday this week when he and his fellow accused former chairman at Portsmouth Milan Mandaric were both found innocent and cleared of all charges. A weight had clearly been lifted from Redknapp's shoulders and he could now concentrate on football. However, when news came through later that afternoon of England manager Fabio Capello resigning as manager, the spotlight soon came back on Redknapp with the Spurs boss now tipped as favourite to become the next manager of the national side. With himself widely touted as the next England boss, Redknapp has remained coy over the rumours. Despite all this attention, Spurs have continued their great form this season, a home win against lowly Wigan Athletic and a hard fought 0-0 away draw against Liverpool ensured Spurs kept the two Manchester sides of City and United on their toes at the top of the table. On Saturday 11th February 2012, Tottenham Hotspurs welcomed Newcastle United to White Hart Lane in the day's late afternoon fixture. Newcastle themselves have also been on a great run of form. Lying in fifth position, Alan Pardew has built a strong side with attacking flair and defensive prowess despite the loss of a few key players such as Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique. Two of their standout performers this season have been Senegalese pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, with Ba grabbing 16 goals thus far in the campaign. Both their absences through recent African Nations Cup duty had somewhat of an impact on the Toon Army’s form with them suffering in January a blip of a result in a 5-2 away defeat to Fulham. With Ba and Cisse back in the frame for Newcastle, the Magpies have returned to winning ways and they went in to this game off the back of a 2-0 home victory against Aston Villa. Their manager Alan Pardew, like Redknapp, has also been someone closely linked to the England job due to the fantastic work he has achieved at Newcastle United. However shortly after the announcement of Capello leaving, Pardew was quick to rule himself out of the job. WinkBall video reporters were down at White Hart Lane for the game between Tottenham Hotspurs and Newcastle United that saw Spurs come out as eventual winners, thrashing Newcastle 5-0. New loan signing from Everton Louis Saha grabbed a double with fellow striker Emmanuel Adebayor adding to the rout along with goals from Niko Kranjcar and Benoit Assou-Ekotto. This result for Spurs ensured they kept pressure on the chasing two at the top whereas this was a result to forget for Newcastle. Speaking to Spurs’ fans, WinkBall reporters asked them what they made of Harry Redknapp being linked with the vacant England manager job and if he were to leave, who would be the next person to take the helm at White Hart Lane? Talking to Newcastle fans, WinkBall reporters asked them how important the return of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse were for the team and could they realistically see themselves qualifying for the Champions League?
